In Himalaya mountain, Rock salt was formed many million years ago when the seas dried up.Gradual evaporation, and the conditions prevailing the interior of the earth, resulted in the formation of crystalline structures which give rock slat its typical appearance. It is typically formed by the evaporation of salty water (such as sea water) which contains dissolved Na+ and Cl- ions.
